From Jeanne Kelly
Founder and Artistic Director
I am simply amazed at how fast the past fifteen weeks have flown.  We started in September, limping through the challenging music.  And it was challenging! Then it was December and time to show off.  And I am so proud of all of you! Your concerts have been spectacular.  You have sung with a gorgeous choral sound, your diction has been superb, you have been expressive and creative,  and you connected with your huge audiences.  And……..you watched your conductors!

Encore does so much good in the community.  We make a lot of people happy.  I cannot tell you how many heartfelt emails I receive from singers and concert goers. You make Encore what it is – fabulous!  You work hard and we conductors are so very grateful.

All of us at Encore look forward to a dazzling spring 2017 season when we being to celebrate our Tenth Anniversary.   I hope you tell all your friends about Encore and encourage them to join in on the fun.  I can promise you an unforgettable spring concert season!
It gives me great pleasure to think about our huge concert planned for DAR Constitution Hall on Saturday, May 13 at 3pm. It will be the Encore Event of the year!

I sincerely hope that all of our 1,000 Encore Chorale and ENCORE ROCKS singers will perform in this magnificent hall.  You have made Encore the largest and fastest growing choral program for older adults in the country and we want to celebrate our future.  We hope you all mark your calendar to be with us on this very exciting occasion in the history of Encore. SING ON!

Happy Holidays to you all,
Jeanne Kelly
Founder and Artistic Director

From the desk of Mary Spencer
Executive Director
Dear Encore Singers, What a thrill it was for me to attend so many of our Encore concerts this holiday season. It was only a year ago that I attended my first live Encore concert and I remember having chills as I watched with total awe as the singers performed.  I must say that I experienced the same level of excitement this season as I sat mesmerized watching and listening as our singers dazzled their audiences once again this holiday season. I am giddy with excitement about the season to come as we begin celebrating our 10th Anniversary and as we sing a repertoire filled with Encore favorites from the last ten years. The opportunity to sing on the stage of DAR Constitution Hall is really something special. There is no better time to be an Encore singer!

Finally, during this season of giving, your philanthropic support is so very important to us. If you would like to make a tax-deductible gift to support Encore, I am happy to provide a link to our giving page here for your convenience.

I wish you the happiest of holidays and can't wait to welcome you back in 2017!

Mary Spencer

Registration is open for the Winter/Spring Semester of Singing!

We hope you will return to sing with Encore for our spring season starting the week of January 9th!  Our repertoire will be very special! As we begin to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and prepare for an extraordinary concert at DAR Constitution Hall on May 13, 2017, with all 1000 singers invited to sing, we have gathered the most popular songs sung by our Encore Chorales over the past decade. It will be a season of singing Encore’s Greatest Hits! Don’t miss it!
Spread the word to friends and neighbors and invite them to join us!
The schedule and registration links are available to view here (http://encorecreativity.org/index.php/locations) , and you can also register online with a link from that page.
We are encouraging online registration in advance and payment can be made online or at the first rehearsal.  This will help ensure that we order the appropriate amount of music for the first week of rehearsals. If paying at the first rehearsal, you can bring a check made out to Encore Creativity for Older Adults. You can also mail your payment in advance to 5419 Deale Churchton Road #102, Churchton, MD 20733.  If registering online, do not hesitate to contact us if you have trouble accessing the online registration links.
Our Encore Chorale spring repertoire is just fabulous and includes favorites like –
Let There be Music; Do, Lord, Remember Me;  Porgy and Bess; Les Miserables; and You Make me Feel so Young.  If you have a copy of "And So I Sing" please bring it along.
Our spring repertoire will be a blast for our ENCORE ROCKS program - get ready to rock some "oldies" and "classic rock", including, All You Need is Love by The Beatles, Longest Time by Billy Joel, Forever Doo Wop and a Rock On Medley featuring favorites, including, At the Hop, Blue Suede Shoes (from G.I. Blues), Blue Velvet, Good Loving and Hard Day’s Night.

Thank You Encore Donors!

We are most grateful for the tremendous support we have received this holiday season from singers who have chosen to make a gift to Encore. Encore is a non-profit organization and we rely on gifts from our community of singers and their family and friends to ensure that Encore remains strong and that we are able to offer the very best program to our singers, including highly-skilled and qualified professional conductors, comfortable rehearsal spaces, exciting concert venues, and scholarships for singers in financial need.

As the end of the calendar year approaches, we hope that if you have not yet made a gift to Encore, you consider doing so now. Your gifts are 100% tax-deductible and will be put to immediate use to support our program. It may surprise some people to know that tuition alone does not cover the operating costs of the Encore program and gifts traditionally fund 20% of our operating budget.

Thank you to all of our donors who make supporting Encore an annual priority. We are so very grateful for your support and send you our heartfelt thanks. We could not be the Encore you know and love without support from each and every one of our donors.  To make your 2016- 2017 gift securely online click here. Encore's fiscal year runs from September 1 through August 30 each year.

To make a charitable contribution that is deductible in the 2016 calendar year, checks must be postmarked on or before December 31st and credit card gifts must be processed online before 12 midnight on December 31st. If you would like to make a gift through stock transfer, please contact Mary Spencer at mary.spencer@encorecreativity.org for information.

Many thanks and Happy Holidays from all of us at Encore!

Encore Sponsorship Opportunities
In 2017 Encore will celebrate 10 successful years!  We are thrilled to provide a program that continues to inspire creativity and joy.  Over the past 10 years Encore has grown – now serving 10 counties in Maryland, Virginia and DC, with just over 1000 singers each season!  Our 20 free concerts bring in an average of 4,000 audience members in December and May and we continue to hear from our national affiliates about their success.
Sponsorship helps Encore continue to offer free community concerts, presenting polished, highly professional performance to appreciative audiences.  This is our best publicity!  Sponsorships are also critical in supporting financial aid for those who would not otherwise be able to sing with Encore Chorale and Encore ROCKS.
If you have a business or organization that might be a good fit to sponsor Encore, the office staff can put the right package together for you. All sponsorship benefits are offered for a full year after Encore receives a sponsorship, so it is never too late in the season to become a sponsor of Encore! Click here to download and review Encore Sponsorship opportunities and benefits.
Your Encore Chorale Master is a great resource for you!

As always, we are grateful for our wonderful volunteer Chorale Masters who continue to work to  make things organized and enjoyable for all of us.  Click here for a list of  Chorale Masters.  They are a valuable resource for you if you have questions about rehearsals, concert guidelines, or other general Encore questions. If they don’t have the answer, they know where to get it!
