A Special Announcement
from Jeanne Kelly
Founder and Artistic Director

It is unbelievable how fast ten years has flown by since I founded Encore.   But what is more unbelievable is what a fabulous organization Encore has become! Never in my wildest dreams did I think Encore would grow and flourish like it has.  Larry, my husband and partner in Encore, and I are so proud!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Encore will be celebrating our talented singers and our Tenth Anniversary with a huge concert at DAR Constitution Hall on Saturday, May 13 at 3pm. It promises to be the Encore Event of the year!

I sincerely hope that all of our 1,000 Encore Chorale and ENCORE ROCKS singers will perform in this magnificent hall.  More details will follow in the weeks and months ahead about this and other 10th Anniversary events.  Encore’s dedicated Board and staff want to celebrate you, the singers.   You have made Encore the largest and fastest growing choral program for older adults in the country and we want to celebrate our future.  We hope you all mark your calendar to be with us on this very exciting occasion in the history of Encore. SING ON!

Holiday Concert Schedule!
The Encore Chorale and Encore ROCKS holiday concerts are just around the corner.  You can find a full list of all of the concerts by clicking on the flyer link here which is also on the homepage of the website. The flyers for each concert will be sent to each of our singers by email.  We encourage you to distribute those flyers around to anyone that you would like to invite. Your Conductors and Chorale Masters will review the specifics for your concerts, such as call times and concert attire dress.

We know how hard you all have been working to prepare for these special concerts.  Please be sure to invite your family and friends to enjoy all of your hard work. Congratulations on another successful season of song!

The fall weather has been just incredible. Enjoying the great outdoors, being with family and friends, and surrounding myself with music, both in the office and at home, brings me so much joy. As Jeanne and I discussed our 10th Anniversary last week and began to contemplate what Encore has meant to our singers over these past ten years, we decided to pull out a folder that was brimming with notes from our singers sent to Jeanne over the years. I can't tell you how inspirational these messages were to read.

It is not often that one gets an opportunity to sit and reflect when you are building a organization serving over 1000 singers, but last Friday that is exactly what we did in the Encore Office. This amazing organization we call Encore has truly been life-changing for so many singers. We feel it in our bones and we "know it" to be true, but reading the words written by singers themselves gave us an indescribable feeling of gratitude.  After spending some time quietly reading these notes, I turned to Jeanne and said, "This is amazing Jeanne. Not many people can say that in their lifetime they have changed hundreds of lives for the better, like you have through Encore." It was a powerful realization. It made me swell with pride for my partner Jeanne and for Encore. We are so thrilled to be able to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to invite all of our singers to celebrate onstage at DAR Constitution Hall. It will truly be a celebration of YOU! We hope you will mark your calendar and invite all of your family and friends to join us. It will be the event of the year! Music for the spring semester will promise to be extra special as we prepare for not only our individual concerts but also for our combined concert at the DAR. There is no better time to be an Encore singer!

Thank you for all you do to make Encore such a vibrant and exciting organization!

Sponsorship Opportunities with Encore

In 2017 Encore will celebrate 10 successful years!  We are thrilled to provide a program that continues to inspire creativity and joy.  Over the past 10 years Encore has grown – now serving 10 counties in Maryland and Virginia and DC, that is just over 1000 singers each season!  Our 20 free concerts bring in an average of 4,000 audience members each season and we continue to hear from our national affiliates about their success.

Sponsorship helps Encore continue to offer free community concerts, presenting polished, highly professional performance to appreciative audiences.  This is our best publicity!  Sponsorships are also critical in supporting financial aid for those who would not otherwise be able to sing with Encore Chorale.

If you have, or know of, a business or organization that might be a good fit to sponsor Encore, the office staff can put the right package together for you. All sponsorship benefits are offered for a full year from the time Encore received a sponsorship so it is never too late in the season to become a sponsor of Encore! Click here to download and review Encore Sponsorship opportunities and benefits.
Chorale Masters know their stuff!

As always, we are grateful for our wonderful volunteer Chorale Masters who continue to work to  make things organized and enjoyable for all of us.  Click here for a list of all fall 2016 Chorale Masters.  They are a valuable resource for you if you have questions about rehearsals, concert guidelines, or other general Encore questions. If they don’t have the answer, they know where to get it!

Thank You Encore Donors!

As we move closer to the holidays, most of us begin to think about our yearly Philanthropic gifts to support the organizations and causes that we care about. We hope that you will consider a gift to support Encore this fiscal year. Encore relies on gifts from singers, family members and friends, and corporations to support Encore, traditionally providing 20% of Encore's income.

Gifts and grants support every nook and cranny of Encore including scholarships for singers in financial need, rehearsal and concert venue rentals, talented performers and accompanists for our concerts, insurance for all of our programs, and salaries for our amazing conductors and staff. Thank you to all of our donors who make supporting Encore an annual priority. We send you our heartfelt thanks. We could not be the Encore you know and love without support from each and every one of our donors.  To make your 2016- 2017 gift securely online click here. Encore's fiscal year runs from September 1 through August 30 each year.
