Upon first look at the scope of work, RT Drywall Inc. knew they would call on Radius Track Corporation for curved framing assistance. RT Drywall delegated the complex tower framing design and fabrication to Radius Track so they could move forward on other scope of work items.
The tower provides spectacular views of Santa Barbara through arched openings in its 9-foot radius curved walls. The double wall framing system is plumb on the interior from base to ceiling, however the exterior wall framing is plumb to a height of 5-feet. It then splays outward gradually to be 8-inches thicker at the 14-foot top than at the base.
“This project required our team to use every trick we had learned in our thirty years of experience,” said Rob Thayer, President/Owner RT Drywall. “The Tower was unique. We sent Radius Track the drawings and whammo in a few days they sent me a 3D model that brought clarity to the framing they would fabricate for our team to construct.”
As a marquee building in Santa Barbara, everyone was watching. RT Drywall knew their framing had to be spot on for the plasterers to deliver their work to specification. We appreciate the confidence RT Drywall placed in us to help them deliver this curved and complex tower.
